London-based journalist Giovanna Dunmall has built an internationally respected career writing about design, architecture and culture for international publications such as Wallpaper*, Mark, Frame, DETAIL, Azure, Metropolis, the Economist, South China Morning Post, Sleeper and the Guardian

Prior to this she was based in Treviso, where she was an associate editor for Benetton’s pioneering COLORS magazine and also worked on two books for Taschen, 1000 Extra/Ordinary Objects and 1000 Signs. After Treviso she lived in Rome for six years where she worked as a freelance journalist for some of the titles above but also several Australian design and architecture titles including POL Oxygen, Inside, Indesign, Architectural Review and Artichoke. It was during this time that she caught the bug for Milan’s famous Design Week and wrote the first Wallpaper* guides to various Italian cities.

Giovanna returns regularly to the capital of design (which also happens to be the city where she was born) and has reported on the Salone every year – bar one – for the past 12.
